Be aware of mesothelioma – run for your life

After being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, such as malignant mesothelioma cancer, people usually think about how many days it remains to be living. Some people panic without knowing the whole story of the disease. Most of the people are not aware about the factors which are causing mesothelioma cancer. Asbestos is the main cause for developing a rare form of cancer such as mesothelioma cancer. Asbestos exposure, even for a short time can cause asbestosis or mesothelioma tumors. Workers who have handled materials containing asbestos are the ones who should go first to the doctor.

 Larry Davis was diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma in 2007. Doctors told him he can live up to two years with this disease but no more than this. After the complete diagnosis, Larry decided to give up to all mesothelioma treatments and started running.

 He is logging about 20-25 miles per day, since he was diagnosed with mesothelioma and now, after three years, he is organizing a run to benefit mesothelioma research. Davis said: “we wanted to do a tribute, but we haven’t been there to mourn.” The run was scheduled on Valentine’s Day in Boca Raton, Florida. People who ran only wanted to raise the awareness and to rise funds for mesothelioma treatment research.

 Mesothelioma is an aggressive form of cancer and every year about 3000 new cases are diagnosed in specialized clinics. If detected in time, there is a minimum possibility to live, of course with a specific treatment, radiation or chemotherapy.

 Mesothelioma is caused by exposure to asbestos. Small fibers of asbestos, if swallowed, can determine the cancer to develop in human’s body. In case of working with asbestos you must inform yourself about the risk of developing mesothelioma, if your employer doesn’t present the safety rules.
