An asbestos exposure investigation has been started by the State of New York. Officials believe that the improper removal of a boiler could have caused asbestos contamination. They believe that during the removal of the boiler asbestos materials have been disturbed and allowed to release the threatening fibers. All this took place in an apartment and commercial building.
Residents and workers near the area right after the incident were instructed to leave the building by firefighters that answered the call. One of the people inside said that the firefighters instructed them that the area is not safe anymore, and it would be best to leave it for the time being. They were allowed to return to the building after a few hours.
We recommend that anyone who was in or around the hazard area to contact a mesothelioma doctor and have some tests done. There is the possibility that you weren’t exposed to asbestos, but in the case that you did, it is best to be cautious around this problem and try to solve it sooner rather than later. If you were exposed and the medical testing proves it, we also advise you to seek the appropriate expertise of one of the mesothelioma attorneys in New York. You will probably be able to find one very fast because mesothelioma cases have been known to appear in the area as well.
